Ian's short fiction has appeared in Tor.com, Apex Magazine, and The Best Science Fiction and Fantasy of the Year, Volume 5. His first novel, Bitter Seeds, debuted in 2010. Its sequel, The Coldest War, is forthcoming in July, 2012. He lives in New Mexico.
