From the book: GENE WOLFE, born on May 7, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, spent most of his childhood growing up in Texas. An engineer by training, his science fiction stories were first published during the mid-sixties. He is a graduate of the famed Milford SF Writing Conferences hosted by Damon Knight and his stories appeared regularly in Knight's Orbit series. Gene Wolfe is perhaps best known for his massive work The Book of the New Sun. This four volume novel has won numerous awards since the first book appeared in 1980. Mr. Wolfe currently resides in Illinois and is a Senior Editor at Plant Engineering magazine.
