NESFA's Regional Science Fiction Convention

Guru of the Game Room Tournament Info

This tournament consists of four games in five hours, with each game taking no more than an hour to play with a 15 minute break between each game.

Although players are allowed to leave Gaming during the breaks, you must be back in Gaming within 15 minutes or the next game will start without you.

The games are:

The tournament will start at precisely 1pm on Saturday. If you show up late, you will miss the first game. If you don’t know how to play a game it is suggested you ask one of the GMs to show it to you before the tournament.

Each game will be played until it either ends or the 60-minute mark is reached (whichever comes first). Where ending position is important for this tournament, the game will be played out (if possible) to determine second, third, fourth, and fifth place.

The tournament winners are determined by a point system that is based on your ranking at the end of each game. EX: The player in first place at the end of a game will earn 10 points. Second place earns 9, and so on. The top four scores at the end of the tournament will take home one of the prize piles.

Once someone picks a prize pool, they are free to do whatever they wish with the contents of the prize pile, with one exception. You may trade or give away items in the prize pile, but you are not allowed to sell any items won at the convention (this is due to new MA tax laws).

If you have a question during the tournament, remember that the judge is neutral and can answer any questions you have, but keep in mind, the judge cannot play the game for you. You may also ask the other players questions but there are no rules saying they have to answer honestly.

You are highly encouraged to sign-up to guarantee a spot in the tournament.

If you have any questions, please ask one of the GMs.
